Darley sponsors a series of races in Britain, Ireland and France

High-value developmental races across the UK are being supported by Darley

Darley’s support of European grassroots racing has been extended in 2023, through a new series of sponsorships in Britain, Ireland and France.

Together with the British Horseracing Authority, Darley is sponsoring 18 £40,000-£50,000 three-year-old and three-year-old + open maiden and novice races, run at a wide range of racecourses across the country.

The races offer enhanced prize money to horses at the beginning of their careers as well as assisting longer-term objectives of supporting the domestic breeding industry and ensuring more quality young horses who are bred in Britain are retained to race here.

It is the intention that this initiative is a first step on the path towards a substantial enhancement of the values of Flat maiden and novice races.

Sam Bullard, Director of Stallions, said, “For many years Darley has worked to support breeders through sponsorship and this new development fund initiative is doing just that, as well as setting a new improved prize money level for maiden races.

“This, combined with our contribution to the EBF, demonstrates how we can work together for the benefit of racing and are delighted to be involved”.

Meanwhile in Ireland, Darley has announced sponsorship of a series of Black Type races for 2023.

The five races, all for fillies aged three and up, will offer between €55,000 and €75,000 in prize money.

Eamon Moloney, Nominations Manager, Kildangan Stud, said, “The Irish Listed programme gives an opportunity for talented fillies to differentiate themselves. We are delighted to be supporting this series of races as an additional contribution to our longstanding support of prize money through the Irish European Breeders’ Fund.

In conjunction with France Galop, four high-class sponsorships have also been added for 2023: the Listed Prix de Thiberville, the G3 Prix Chloe, the Listed Prix Joubert and the Prix Coronation.

Sam Bullard said, “We have an exciting young roster of stallions standing at Haras du Logis and these new sponsorships further demonstrate Darley’s support for French racing and breeding.
